The project intentionally highlights monuments—buildings and cultural heritage—serving as symbols of people’s fates. Just as each building represents its inhabitants, visitors, and users, each cultural heritage item represents its creator—artist or craftswoman—and their lives influenced by political or social decisions. Etchingroom1 uses stylization and abstraction to convey universal emotions. Combined with visualized data from Roman Liubun’s research, this precisely depicts the destruction currently occurring both just a few hundred kilometers beyond our borders and figuratively at every moment in every place. This project was presented at the SEFO Triennial (Olomouc Museum of Art, Czech Republic). Part of this project was also shown in August 2024 in Kyiv at the World War II Museum. Text by Frank Jakub.
