Houses of Ashes

Houses of Ashes is a project about the daily life of civilians in deoccupied front-line territories; about the banality of life in conditions of absolute evil; about life as resistance; about life which appears almost normal, ordinary, if one does not look closely. It is difficult to understand why people do not leave settlements where the infrastructure is completely destroyed, devoid of conditions for production and creation, or choose to live under constant shelling. This strikes me as an act of dignity: No one can tell you where you should die. In the 1990s, we were a society marked by poverty; today, we are a society marked by horror. Neither can be justified.
