Full-scale war is ongoing in Ukraine. Every day Russian forces are destroying cities, villages, and infrastructure and taking or ruining the lives of Ukrainians. At the same time, amidst the war, the hromadas of Ukraine are initiating recovery projects. Targeted reconstruction projects and the development of strategies of recovery make it possible to ensure adequate conditions for the life of the hromadas during the war and give hope for a better future. The goal of this project is to collect the narratives that are driving the initial formulation of the principles of and approaches towards recovery in Ukrainian hromadas and territories.
Within the framework of the project, interviews with non-governmental initiatives working on the recovery of Ukraine’s hromadas and territories will be gathered and archived. Particular emphasis will be placed on how the driving principles are formulated, what the key values and approaches to recovery are, how cooperation is established between different actors, what partnerships and coalitions are formed, and how key actors and the broader public are engaged in the recovery of hromadas and territories.
The project foresees the creation of an archive of transcribed recordings of interviews with representatives of key initiatives. The archive will be deposited with the Center for Urban History in Lviv. Access to the interviews will be made possible after the war upon request with the Center for Urban History.
