The project seeks to establish an online platform where Ukrainian documentary photographers will come together and publish their materials related to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The platform will feature 30 photo stories, each comprising 10 photographs, offering a comprehensive visual narrative of the war and its consequences. The initiative underscores the significance of photography as an important medium for recording evidence of war crimes and dispelling misinformation in a world saturated with fake news. The primary objectives of the project are to preserve Ukraine’s history during the war as told by high-quality photos and to foster global awareness of the war’s realities and consequences. This project is supported by Ukrainian documentary photographers, who are willing to contribute to the preservation of the nation’s history and the dissemination of crucial information to the wider world.

Documenting Ukraine Grants
Ukrainian Photographers in the Armed Forces explores the unique dual roles of Ukrainian photographers who serve in the Armed Forces while continuing to document the war. Through a series of 10 in-depth interviews, the project will capture their personal stories, challenges, and professional transformations, showcasing their invaluable contribution to preserving history and combating disinformation. The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) will travel to meet these individuals on the front lines, documenting their experiences to share powerful narratives with a global audience. This project highlights the importance of war photography in raising awareness, fostering international support, and honoring the bravery of those who risk their lives to reveal the truth.
