With this project, we intend to highlight the problems of women living in front-line towns where the majority of the male population is fighting against Russia. Women from these Ukrainian regions are forced to engage in physically demanding professions and perform jobs which were largely male-dominated prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion. Another problem posed by this situation is the state’s impotence in helping all women qualify. Women who have had a chance to obtain the necessary qualifications are facing the following problems: hard physical labor, mockery from men who do not perceive women as equals, the inability to combine full-time employment with raising children and receiving higher education. Given that many women have left Ukraine, the situation of the remaining ones is complicated by the fact that they become victims of the stereotype “it’s their own fault because they didn't leave.”
