The “GreenUkraine.CH” initiative aims to document and mitigate the impact of warfare on Ukraine’s agricultural lands, focusing on soil contamination from bombs, missiles, and other ordnances. By conducting detailed soil analyses and developing an interactive platform, the project empowers Ukrainian farmers with tools and knowledge for land restoration while ensuring the sustainable management of some of Europe’s most fertile soils.
The initiative focuses on enhancing soil contamination data, improving website functionality, and synthesizing data into actionable restoration guidelines. It engages Ukrainian authorities and farming communities to disseminate results and promote collaboration. The project aspires to provide comprehensive documentation, increase stakeholder engagement, and equip farmers with methods for safe, effective soil management to ensure food security and long-term sustainability.
