This project aims to create a popular book documenting and analyzing non-violent resistance (NVR) in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as to shed light on often overlooked acts of NVR. Led by Dr. Olha Mukha, a cultural analyst and human rights expert, the project will document and analyze the courageous efforts of Ukrainian civilians who choose to resist occupation under very tough conditions.
Building on the success of the UNSEEN FORCE exhibition and addressing the vivid interest in and scarcity of information on Ukrainian NVR, this book will serve both as a crucial historical record and a tool for understanding and promoting NVR in conflict and war zones.
The book will combine rigorous research with personal narratives, offering a comprehensive view of NVR strategies, challenges, and impacts. It will serve as a vital historical record, countering misinformation and preserving Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
What sets this book apart is its unique blend of storytelling and personal approach. By weaving together individual stories of resistance with a broader historical and cultural context, the book will bring these acts of courage to life, making them relatable and inspiring to readers. This narrative style will not only engage readers emotionally but also provide a deeper understanding of the human experience behind NVR.
By amplifying these untold stories, we aim to inspire global awareness and support for Ukraine’s struggle for sovereignty. The project will not only contribute to the preservation of Ukrainian cultural memory but also offer valuable insights for activists, policymakers, and researchers interested in NVR and conflict resolution worldwide.
