Lecture
After all the promise of utopian futures, we seem to have vanished into dystopian myths. In Russia, in the United States, and around the world, wealth and technology, the very forces associated with progress, have generated a politics that recalls fascism. What can deep history tell us about our predicament? And what can we do to create a more reasonable present?
Timothy Snyder is the Richard C. Levin Professor of History at Yale University and a permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM Vienna).
IWM Rector Misha Glenny moderated the discussion after the lecture.
