This project focuses on “insane” narrators in the literature of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, particularly on how “insanity” is constructed within and by a narratorial voice. Another inquiry of Ambrožová’s research is whether the "insane" vision in literature can become a means to transcend the mind-body dichotomy, how this is linked to the collapse of meaning, and, finally, whether "insanity" in a text can function as a figure of the unspeakable, a radical response to the dread of incomprehensibility.
