A common phenomenon jeopardizing democracies of the former Soviet satellite states is nationalism. Yet hardly any works from this field have been published in Hungarian so far. This makes Nations and Nationalism a very important means to fill this void. Gellner’s precise definitions, succinct historical survey and systematically graded argument make for a brilliant and comprehensive overview of the topic. In the framework of his fellowship, Andras Barabas will translate Nations and Nationalism into Hungarian.
