As an Andrew W. Mellon Visiting Fellow he specialized in Political Thinking, Political Theory and Hungarian Politics. In his research project he analyzed the debate between Hans Kelsen and Carl Schmitt in the 1920-30s. The focus was on the relation and borderline between law and politics. His publications include: “Das Parteiensystem Ungarns” in Parteiensysteme in postkommunistischen Gesellschaften Osteuropas, Opladen 1997; “Intellectuals and Democracy in Eastern Europe” in Intellectuals and Politics in Central Europe, CEU Press 1998; Government and Politics in Hungary, CEU Press.
