The research aims to reveal and explore the potential of religious education for challenging the issues of multiculturalism, interfaith dialogue and democratic citizenship in a comparative European perspective. The task is to answer the question how the philosophy of religious education contributes to the policy of multiculturalism, counters terrorist strategies and citizenship education, and how much attention is given to the appreciation of religious diversity and freedom and maintaining the students’ personal religious and cultural identity.
