As a Dutch journalist with sociological background I am writing an investigative non-fiction book about the business with fresh vegetables in Europe. The tomato is used as a metaphor for these fresh food streams. Focusing on various decision makers in the life of the tomato and the absurdities in food processes the story predominantly takes place in the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Germany and Hungary and to some extend also in Poland, Turkey, Austria, Greece and England.
