My project is a study comparing the forms of participation of Soviet writers in the totalitarian regime of the USSR with the political and social engagement of their East-European colleagues. At the center of my analysis stands the examination of both the shared roots in the Enlightenment project as well as the differences between particular historical and cultural versions of this shared background.
