The war in Ukraine has been richly represented in mass media. Though traditionally, male images dominate in war discourse, it has been female images that have become popular in mass media during this war. The project investigates the history of Ukraine’s representation as a woman. It studies the propaganda images used to personify Ukraine in the twentieth century, with special attention given to the war periods, and analyzes the tendencies that exist in the representation of Ukraine as a women in relation to traditional Ukrainian culture today.
