The project examines the ideas, methods, and intellectual contexts of the German-language histories of Galicia during the late eighteenth and the early nineteenth centuries with a special focus on Johannes Christian von Engel's work A History of Halych and Volodymyr (Geschichte von Halitsch und Wladimir bis 1772, Wien 1792–93).
