Vasil Bykau is one of the most famous Belarusian writers of the twentieth century. He was well-known for his books and his criticism of the governments of the Soviet Union and Belarus. His autobiography "A Long Way to Home" has never been translated into Polish. This non-fiction book helps to understand processes that shaped whole generations of twentieth-century Belarusians and to see the background of recent upheaval in Belarus.
