This project proposes to elaborate a novel concept of the semi-periphery in the contemporary cultural world-system. It starts from the assumption that considering the gradual detachment of the territorial and interactional dimensions of cultural production after 1989, this new semi-periphery might be better delineated in interactional rather than territorial terms. This semi-periphery may become a key element in better understanding core periphery power dynamics in the structured process of cultural integration.
