My project explores the degree of compatibility between the issues addressed in the arts and social criticism at Lviv on the one hand and in Viennese modernism on the other by comparing the content of literary journals. This raises the question of possible European and, in particular, Viennese literary and intellectual inspirations of the kind of modernism to be found at Lviv, understood as an attempt to establish a critical and active reconstruction of the world of literary and social values.
