This book describes how people from across the post-Soviet space became involved in the so-called Islamic State. Ukrainian journalist Kateryna Sergatskova spent years interviewing women who were married to militants, as well as militants themselves and the people who radicalized them. She explores how the conflicts in Syria and Iraq are not isolated events, and how the USSR's treatment of minority groups eventually came to influence one of the most notorious terrorist groups of our time.
