This research project focuses on the film diaries made by Eastern European artists and thinkers in exile. Focusing on the Polish and Lithuanian perspectives of Marian Marzyński and Jonas Mekas, the project aims to analyze the historical, cultural, and personal narratives embedded in their films. The key research objective is to find out how technological developments in visual media have complemented and transformed traditional written diaristic practices, and how this has affected the preservation and transmission of Eastern European memories.
