Maria Leao, Ph.D. Candidate in Philosophy, Boston University, was writing her dissertation on "The Dialectic of Language and
Thought in Hegel". This project explored the concept of language in Hegel's philosophy of spirit, placing it in the context of the recent debate between hermeneutics and semiotics.

Program

Maria Leao spent six months at the IWM during 1989 as the first Boston Junior Visiting Fellow. She came back in 1990 as a Junior Visiting Fellow and was the Project Coordinator for the IWM's summer school in Cortona 1990.
