FellowshipsThis project seeks to understand the nature of European integration by examining the relationship between religion and politics throughout the process. It aims at answering the following question: which forms of secularism have underpinned the process of European integration? Secularism is understood here as a public settlement between politics and religion, that is, we can speak of secularism if religious and political spheres are conceptually distinct. I am arguing that among three forms of secularism present throughout the process (Christian, laicist, and liberal), it was the liberal secularism that dominated it.
