Micheline Ishay

There have been five major internationalist movements from the Enlightenment to 1989. Each increasingly institutionalized human rights ideals to transcend parochialism or nationalism during worldwide crisis; each informing the next phase. In the midst of the current nationalist wave and world crises, this project envisions a new internationalism, the future of human rights and global governance as a way to strengthen state capacity and weakened democracies.
