Mila Ganeva

This project will focus on about twenty unknown texts by Irmgard Keun that I discovered during archival research. These short stories and essays originate in the time of her exile in Belgium, when she was in the circle of other emigres such as Stefan Zweig and Joseph Roth, and in the subsequent war and early postwar periods. They strike a challenging balance between realistic accounts and modernist experimentation. My plan is to prepare these texts for publication in an edited, annotated volume.
