This project deals with history writing, memory and methodology and originated in the discrepancy between the historical narrative derived from primary sources (communist party archives; secret police archives) and that of the historiography on communist Czechoslovakia. Deciphering those agendas and deconstructing how they have affected the construction of a collective memory of communism in the Czech Republic is the topic of this research. Thanks to a historical and epistemological approach, this project will thematize the difference in the Czech public sphere between memory and commemoration, research and activism, history and politics.
