Nazar Kozak

The project investigates the agency of visual images from Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine in order to better understand the role visual culture plays in societal disruptions and crises. Nazar Kozak explores not only how images of war have reinforced power structures but also how they confront those structures' oppressive regimes. If images are not just a reflection of reality but a form of reality (which the author defines with the term visuality), what can the latter tell us about the ideologies of which it is an integral part?
