German political foundations, such as the Konrad Adenauer and the Friedrich Ebert foundations are a unique phenomenon in world politics, given that they see themselves as being non-governmental despite being closely affiliated with political parties. My research aspires to develop a theoretical framework in which the German political foundations can be understood and analyzed. Later, this theoretical framework will be used to explore the German foundations’ role in Israeli-German relations.
