This research investigates how the narrative and memory of WWII were exploited in the Soviet Union by the authorities in the political struggles during the Cold War and post-communist period. It focuses on the representations of such issues as partisan resistance, the collaboration of Soviet citizens with the German occupation authorities, and the Holocaust. The geographical area includes Russia and the western republics of the USSR such as Belarus, Ukraine, and the Baltic States.
