Over the last two decades, makeover shows have become extremely popular and omnipresent on Russia TV. The focus of my work involves understanding how citizenship is produced, shaped and thought of in Russian makeover programs. I pay particular attention to ideological assumptions concerning symbolic and social possibilities of cultural, gender and sexual citizenship presented in the makeover because, like any other cultural representations, TV shapes society by promoting certain images, meanings and ideas.
