For more than 20 years, German Ostpolitik was a clear compromise dedicated to East Europe, most visibly in its connection with the principle “Russia First.” But Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has changed this situation. German foreign policy is now unclear, and political and intellectual voices are trying to seek different approaches for this region. The aim of the project is to understand the future of Germany’s Ostpolitik and its place for Ukraine, taking into account the demise of “Russia First”.
