Across the world, calls for greater equity in the academy, museum, and library are loud and clear. Why, then, if everyone agrees that business as usual is no longer acceptable is progress so slow? This book tells the story of the inequality pipeline that keeps artists and writers from Argentina, Lebanon, and South Korea out of galleries, bookstores and, ultimately, university classrooms. Without understanding how this pipeline works, and the internal contradictions which pervade it, we can’t create a more equitable one.
