The project explores Cold War ideas and practices of the Free Flow of Information (FFoI) in transnational perspective. Rather than on the FFoI doctrine, it focuses on the historical settings in which normative beliefs underpinning it were tested and contested, including the case of Radio Free Europe counterpoised with settings from the Global South. The project is meant to inform the debate on erosion of the public sphere in the digital age.
