Randall Hansen

Randall Hansen’s book will examine the work-refugee nexus in Europe. Focusing on five cities––Rome, Vienna, Paris, Berlin, and London––the book will explore refugee journeys to, hopes for, and lives in these five European capitals. Through interviews with government officials, NGOs, and, above all, refugees themselves, the book will ask why they chose the city in which they live, how they managed to overcome border restrictions to get there, and the contrast between lives they hoped to lead with those they lead. While in Vienna, he will conduct interviews with UNHCR and IOM officials and with refugees.
