Richard Sennett has been invited as an Albert Hirschman Fellow to spend the month of March 2023 at the IWM working on a new book about "liveness" and the differences live performance make in art, in work life, in sociability, and in politics. The book, tentatively titled Why Live Matters, is written together with Andrew Barratt and tries to get beyond the usual contrasts of live versus online/networked/digitized experience.
