My research aims to reconstruct and defend a Nietzschean account of happiness. I contend that this position offers distinct advantages over other late modern views, particularly Schopenhauer and Mill. Moreover, I argue that such a position is compatible with and complementary to contemporary research in psychology. My project centers upon a close examination of Nietzsche’s texts, but also draws upon a variety of other philosophical resources – including value theory, phenomenology, and the philosophy of emotion.
