Steve Sem-Sandberg

The project is an investigation, based partly on historical facts and partly on fictional accounts, into the evolution of the ghetto of Lodz in Poland during the Second World War and the mind-set of its Nazi-proclaimed leader Mordechai Chaim Rumkowski. The purpose of the investigation, which is carried out in the form of a documentary novel, is to explore a tragic and shameful historic event, which also holds a key to our understanding of present diversities and divisions in Europe.
