The main project's task is to study changes in the attitude to women's health and pregnant women in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth society of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The research will explore how medical and philosophical treatises reflected these changes and how widespread these texts were among townspeople. Furthermore, the project will seek to trace how these mental and social changes affected the town law; that is, how it reflected the attitude towards pregnant women, what their property rights were, what criminal norms were applied to them, etc.
