Regional differences in historical identities and their impact on political orientations in Ukraine are studied. A special focus is made on the explanation of mechanisms of shaping and reproduction of historical identity on macro-, meso- and micro-levels in diachronic dimension, where macro-level is represented by the official models of past constructed by speeches of the President of Ukraine, meso-level – by the regional media-discourses and micro-level – by personal opinions on what are the most significant elements of historical past, represented by holidays, historical personalities and historical events.
