The aim of the project is to explore changes to public debates and discourse in a number of different industrially developed countries caused by (or linked to) immigration. After investigating the transformations in the political, ideological, and cultural field in Western Europe from the 1960s onwards, the following questions will be addressed: To what extent are the changes in the public sphere which post-Soviet Russia underwent due to immigration similar to the changes in Europe, and to what extent are they different? How could these differences be explained?
