The criticism of totalitarianism is still present both in Russian and German literature, in which, because of the long totalitarian experience, postmodernist aesthetics developed later than in many other European cultures. My main research objective is to compare features of emotional affect of totalitarian experiences in contemporary German and Russian literature, and also to investigate the changing interpretation of totalitarianism in Soviet and Post-Soviet postmodernist literature.
