On 7 September 2024, a new cultural and research institution that documents Russia’s war against Ukraine and facilitates intellectual exchange between Ukraine and the wider world will officially be launched in Lviv.
INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange is an ambitious project initiated by the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM Vienna), driven by IWM Permanent Fellows Timothy Snyder and Katherine Younger. For almost a decade, the IWM has been amplifying Ukrainian voices and documenting Ukrainian experiences through its Ukraine in European Dialogue and Documenting Ukraine programs. The founding of INDEX, a cultural and research institution based in Lviv, is not only a response to the full-scale war but also a signal of durability and commitment.
At the official launch event on 7 September, visitors are invited to learn about the variegated initiatives chronicling the war and the residency program for researchers at INDEX. Ample space will also be provided for intellectual exchange between prominent representatives of academia and the art scene in Ukraine and beyond. Distinguished speakers will soon be announced via the INDEX social media channels.
Please visit the INDEX website to read the full text of the event announcement, including conditions for participation and supplemental information.
The event will be held entirely in Ukrainian.
