While Europe faces dramatic changes in security dynamics, triggered by the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia and China as well as other states continue to question the international rules-based order. Amidst these challenges, Europe should take bold and decisive actions to solidify its international position, strengthen its unity as well as counteract the backsliding of democracy both in its own ranks and immediate neighbourhood. How democracy can be reinforced and authoritarianism resisted is the topic of the upcoming podcast season of “Vienna Coffee House Conversations with Ivan Vejvoda”.
The first podcast episode of the new season will be published next Wednesday, 15 May 2024. IWM Permanent Fellow and Head of the “Europe’s Futures” program Ivan Vejvoda will confer with Emerita Distinguished Professor Ruth Wodak, an Austrian sociologist renowned for her expertise in discourse analysis and sociolinguistics as well as her significant contributions to the understanding of language, power, ideology and social identity.
The podcast will be available on our website and all major streaming platforms, where you can also access all previous 31 episodes.
The "Vienna Coffee House Conversations with Ivan Vejvoda" podcast series is produced by the "Europe’s Futures" project, a partnership initiative of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) and ERSTE Foundation, dedicated to the cultivation of knowledge and the generation of ideas addressing pivotal challenges confronting Europe and the EU.
