Moritz Csakys oeuvre is hardly available in Hungarian, although his books of East-Central European cultural history could be of particular interest and relevance to Hungarian readers. Csaky, an Austrian historian and cultural studies scholar and member of the Austrian Academy of the Sciences, deals with the history of the ideas and culture of the Habsburg monarchy and of today’s East-Central European regions, in particular Hungary. In the monograph to be translated he focuses on Vienna and Budapest, the locations of many of the crucial historical events from the 19th century to the present day.
