This project concerns translation of a book by Judith Butler, Jewishness and the Critique of Zionism, which treats of complex mutual Israeli-Palestinian relations. Butler analyses the meaning of Jewishness and the concept of Zionism in the context of philosophical positions of some Jewish and Palestinian philosophers, reaching conclusion that Zionism and Jewishness are not the same.The arguments presented in the book show the intellectual richness and the depth of a Jewish philosophical and literary tradition incompatible with the national claims of the contemporary state of Israel building its identity on the aggressive power politics in Palestine.
