David Harvey’s book provides a clear argument about how the city as a distinct type of social space can be studied within more complex processes of social and political change. Its translation will be an epistemological innovation in Belarusian research on cities, where the paradigms of critical social geography and critical urban studies are basically not represented, and a strategic intellectual contribution to the growing public interest in urban issues.
