I will translate the book An Oral History of Homosexuality in Croatia, which was published in 2007, from Croatian into English. Comprised of interviews conducted by a group of sociologists with gay men and women, this pioneering work exposes a topic that was suppressed in Croatian and Southeastern European historiography, politics and society for a long time. The generational diversity of the interviewees permits insights into the experiences of homosexual persons under the regimes of fascism, communism, nationalism and liberal democracy, thereby highlighting the commonalities and differences between the histories of sexual minorities in Croatia and those in other parts of Europe.
