On March 1st - 2nd 2023 the Cities and Human Mobility Research Collaborative held a two-day symposium presenting new research at the intersection of cities, citizenship, migration, and displacement. The symposium brought together scholars and practitioners from around the globe with the objective to advance knowledge that contributes to a greater understanding of the role of cities in accommodating human mobility.
Understanding contemporary migration and displacement, the impact of mobility processes on cities, and the role of cities as transient and permanent spaces of migrant city-making require insights into different disciplines, methods, and data. Through a diverse program that covers a wide array of topics, the symposium presented interdisciplinary research that promotes integrated approaches to conceptual and evidence-based research and policy analysis on cities and migration.
