Music in Flight follows refugee musicians fleeing Nazism for Latin America. They transformed orchestras and conservatories, created synagogues and schools, and participated in regional antifascist networks. Their lives illustrate the global ramifications of the Holocaust, the interactions of Great Power and Latin American politics, battles over musical modernism and professional shifts within the world of classical music, and the complexities of migration and remigration.
