Mariya Ivancheva

Student protests have shaken the world since 2008. Critical of the neo-liberalization of higher education, protesters often fail to articulate alternatives. My research project explores historical cases in both Eastern European state socialist societies and the Western welfare state throughout the 20th century to inspire new imaginations for radical reform. Like this I also contextualize historically and position within a broader genealogy of alternative models the case of my doctoral dissertation examining the Bolivarian University of Venezuela.
